India plans to build 12 new steel mills

Indian Minister of Steel and Mines, Prafula Kumar Malik, announced on July 26th that Orissa will build at least 12 new steel plants with an annual production capacity of 60 million tons.


AMNS plans to build a steel plant with an annual production capacity of 24 million tons, while JSW Steel plans to build a steel plant with an annual production capacity of 12 million tons.


At present, there are 51 steel mills in Orissa, with a total annual production capacity of 33.12 million tons.


The start of the construction project for the new factory has not been determined yet, but the minister has stated that three steel mills will be built in the Sundargarh area, two in Jajpur, and one each in Angul, Kendrapara, and Dhenkanal. The location of factories in the Keonjhar and Jagatsinghpur regions has not been determined yet.
